Still playing with stretched guitar chords. You’d be forgiven for thinking was a repeat of, “From Sea To Sierra”, for the first 1.15 minutes but it’s quite radically different after that.
I have quite deliberately cut and pasted the stretched chords in some places to give counterpoint to the organic, evolving sweeps that the stretch process produces.
Again I could do so much more with this but I think I’ll let this stand as it is for now. One step at a time!
It’s amazing how different this sounds for the addition of a bass loop and kick drum.
To me it suggests the movement of a sailing boat through the wind and water; hence the title.
I’ve been obsessing a little about track volume levels. What you hear here is:
Chords; -4.4db
808 kick drum: -7.00db
Sub-bass: -6.5db
Master Volume: -2.00db to keep everything out of the red.
Normalized by Ableton while writing to disk.
I found that the bass seemed to leak into everything and sound way to boomy if I went much above these levels. Any feedback on how the resulting sound balance comes across at your end would be gratefully received.
